As you can see, I don't always have the most creative titles. Well, sometimes I just don't like to force myself to think so yeah. If something 'nice' comes up, I'll change it. Hence, for now bear with it HAHA. Anyway, I went cafe hopping with Yvonne today. We went to Group Therapy again since it was a FAILURE the other time and guess what? This time, it was closed from yesterday till Thursday. We were like FUUUUUUUUUU! Therefore, we went to the cafe called Esette which was just a few shops away. It didn't look posh or had a theme for their decoration so I thought to myself, the food is gonna be soso (yes, if I think the cafe's ambiance is good and that the owner takes the effort to decorate the place that well, then the food should taste as good and be on par too) but to my surprise, it wasn't that bad.
We ordered a main called Mega Breakfast and just drinks since we were going to other cafes later on and as we were served, it looked like any other ordinary breakfast but it tasted really flavourful. From the looks of it, it looked really blend, but I must say, like the quote "Don't judge a book by it's cover" it tasted better than it looks. We were really contented to having good food from the start despite having our anticipation of trying Group Therapy got thrown out of the window. Oh wells, there was a silver lining to it wasn't it. The service at Esette cafe was exceptional and they played good music probably because it's from the radio HAHAHA. Nevertheless, the overall cafe experience was beyond my expectation! We then went to Department of Caffeine which I've been to before with Michelle but I recommended it to Yvonne since the mains were really good. At the end, of course, she was very well satisfied with the waffles she ordered. Despite it being called 'Sundried Tomato & Herbs waffles..." and there were no tomatoes to be seen, HAAAAA, it was delightful! It was very savoury and by far the best combination ingredients of waffles I've ever tried. This is a MUST TRY!!! Lastly, for dessert, we ate at Flor Patisserie. Ever since I've been a design student, I'm very particular with logos and typography and seeing their logo kinda irked me, not gonna lie. They're probably gonna say who cares as long as the food tastes good, nobody's gonna give a damn about it. Yup! So to say, the cake called 'The Blue Donut' tasted out of the ordinary. At first glance, I thought it was going to taste too cheesy and after some bite, I might throw up. Well, it tasted really refreshing actually. It cleanses your palette after eating a savoury meal before hand. It was light and tasted somewhat herb like. A great dessert to end off our cafe hopping adventure! Finally, here comes our shameless selfies! Teehees! After the satisfactory cam whoring session, Yvonne wanted to go to a bookstore nearby called 'Littered with Books' and hence, we went there and after browsing through the books for nearly an hour, we ended up buying some. They were on sale of course! HAHAHA. We're both bookworms, especially Yvonne! Thus, we felt it was worth the purchase and we could exchange after reading too. The bookstore was pretty cool. Not those typical conventional ones like popular or those at Bras Basah. This bookstore was nicely decorated, inside and out! It was pretty fun 'rampaging' through the books on sale. *TYPICAL SINGAPOREAN* I might go there again because their regular selling books are not bad as in price wise. Really worth your money. Most of them are antique books too so if you're a bookworm yourself, you ought to check that place out! there was a "no photography" sign hence the lame sneaky picture Ohoh, and all these places that I've mentioned are situated at Duxton Hill. Just few minutes walk away from each other. Fancy some cafe hopping? You should definitely go there! Till then, chow! :) |
